The Issues

Clean Energy and Environmental Protection

One of our biggest priorities should be ending our dependence on foreign oil and developing cleaner, safer forms of renewable energy such as solar and wind.  Kyrsten has introduced legislation to promote renewable energy every session she has been a legislator.  Developing clean energy will boost our economy, reduce the effects of global warming, and make our state a better place for all of us.

Public Education

As a former social worker in the Washington Elementary School District, Kyrsten understands that free and equal access to a quality public education should be a right for every child of Arizona, and Kyrsten continues to lead the fight in protecting and improving our public education system.   She has supported better teacher pay, smaller class sizes, and safer learning environments for all children.   Additionally, she has been a leader in the fight against vouchers and cuts in education.

Responsible stewardship

Arizona’s greatest assets are its resources.  In order to ensure that we have a great, strong state in the future, we have to protect and preserve our resources today.  This means that, during tough times, we have to make decisions that not only solve today’s problems, but prepare us to succeed tomorrow.  We have to make smart, responsible decisions to keep our state strong and healthy.  For policymakers, this means spending wisely.  We need to spend our state funds on infrastructure like public education, transportation, and public structures.

Ending the genocide in Darfur

Kyrsten cares about not only Arizona, but about people across the Nation and throughout the World.  She has dedicated herself to helping end the genocide currently taking place in Darfur, and that is why she sponsored and got passed House Bill 2705, which prohibits the state from investing any public funds into companies with scrutinized business operations in Sudan.  Additionally, Kyrsten assists numerous refugee organizations, the Save Darfur coalition, and other groups working to end the genocide in Darfur and assist the victims.
